Whatuira set for Huddersfield return
Huddersfield's New Zealand international Paul Whatuira is due to report for pre-season training next week after being released from a specialist mental health unit.
The 28-year-old centre was arrested a month ago following an alleged attack on two men near Huddersfield town centre but a police spokeswoman has confirmed that he was released on October 26 and that no further action will be taken against him.
"Fatz is going well and we're looking forward to welcoming him back to pre-season training," Giants coach Nathan Brown told the Huddersfield Examiner on Friday.
"It's obviously been a very difficult time for him and what happened came as a shock to everyone.
"He feels he's recovering well at the moment, which is very good, and we hope he can move on."
Whatuira, who has won 16 caps for New Zealand, joined Huddersfield from Wests Tigers at the start of the 2008 season and was in their Challenge Cup final team at Wembley in August.
