Henjak gets another assistant at Broncos
Brisbane's appointment of Anthony Griffin as Ivan Henjak's latest assistant will be well received by those who know his ability to develop young players.
Griffin, who'll join Allan Langer and Peter Ryan as one of Henjak's assistants in 2010, has enjoyed two outstanding seasons coaching the club's under-20 side.
A number of his 2008 pupils, including hooker Andrew McCulloch, winger Jharal Yow Yeh, forward Josh McGuire, halfback Ben Hunt and centre/fullback Dale Copley, played first grade this season and more have been earmarked to play in 2010.
The 43 year-old father of three had been an assistant coach with Melbourne and Queensland Cup coach of Redcliffe for three seasons until former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett convinced him to take over the club's Toyota Cup side in 2008.
He took them to the grand final in 2008 and fell one game short of repeating the performance this season.
His experience with the club's young guns will be an enormous help to Henjak with as many as 14 of them involved in Brisbane's future plans.
"I feel after the long experience I have had coaching for 15 or 16 years that I can now offer something to the NRL team, said Griffin on Thursday.
"I'm ready to work at the NRL level now."
