Lyon set for scans on injured shoulder
Manly centre Jamie Lyon has kept his team in contention for the NRL premiership but may find himself on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.
Lyon will undergo scans on Monday with likely damage to his AC joint which could see him sidelined for at least two weeks.
He left the field in midway through Sunday's first half clutching his shoulder after a heavy clash with Storm winger Joe Tomane.
It appeared his game was over when he didn't return after halftime, however the NSW Origin star put aside the pain and ran on in the 50th minute.
Just over 10 minutes later he levelled the score at 16-16 when he managed to regather his own kick just short of the tryline and dive across, with Matt Orford successfully converting for the lead.
"I got a hit on the shoulder and I've got to have scans but it's pretty sore," Lyon said after the match.
"I got strapped up and it settled down a bit so it was good ... you don't feel it too much once you're out there."
He said after the match he wouldn't have returned but for the importance of the win which meant the defending champions head into the final two rounds in fifth place rather than 10th, which is where they would have been with a loss.
"It was a crucial game for us and we had to win," Lyon said.
"Even though we had a good win in the grand final the Storm always give us tough games and it was one of our best wins of the year."
Manly halfback and captain Matt Orford said he was relieved to see the classy Lyon return.
"He showed great courage to come back," Orford said.
"He steadied the ship and kept the guys guessing with our combination.
