Crows' Brodie Martin to have surgery
Adelaide Crows newcomer Brodie Martin will undergo a knee reconstruction, putting his two-game AFL career on hold.
Martin has been an impressive performer since making his debut two weeks ago, but injured his left knee during Sunday's thrashing of Port Adelaide.
The 20-year-old played out the game but scans have revealed a torn anterior crucial ligament.
"There was no evidence during the game as to the extent of the injury, the knee felt stable, he was able to run, and Brodie told us he felt okay," Crows club doctor Andrew Potter said in a statement on Tuesday.
"It is quite unusual for a player to be able to continue to play with this sort of injury."
Martin, who made his debut after being upgraded from the rookie list, will require a 12-month rehabilitation, Dr Potter said.
