Hodges unable to train with Broncos

Test centre Justin Hodges's anticipated comeback against the West Tigers on Friday night is anything but a fait accompli after his suspect hamstring again kept him off the training paddock on Monday.

Hodges was a last minute withdrawal from Friday night's derby win over the Gold Coast.

The fact he missed the session three days later ignites concerns his hamstring problem may be worse than first feared.

Teammate Corey Parker, who's been close to Brisbane's most consistent player this season, was unable to shed any light on the injury or declare Hodges a starter against the Tigers who'll be smarting over their last-second field goal loss to South Sydney on Sunday.

"I'm about as up to speed on Hodgo probably as you guys (media) are," said Parker, an outsider for Origin selection depending on who gets through next weekend's round of NRL games without injury or suspension.

"Obviously he didn't train today but I'm sure he'll get a run late in the week and hopefully be right for Friday night's game."

Parker said Brisbane needed improve discipline after an ordinary first 40 minutes against the Titans.

"People said we were a bit slow early but we were building into the game," he said.

"Certainly in the second half our intensity really picked up which showed towards the back end of the game with the scoreline blowing out a little."

While the Tigers went down narrowly they reminded everyone what a dangerous attacking side they can be.

"They're a team that play an expansive and exciting style which makes them very difficult to defend against," said Parker.

"Players like (Robbie) Farrah and (Benji) Marshall and the like they're ad-lib players and even their own teammates aren't real sure.

"It's a matter of us continually turning up and not clocking off till the job is done."

Parker said Brisbane would face a hostile crowd at Campbelltown.

"We have to go down there with a clear head and a good attitude regarding our intensity and put in a real good performance," he said.

Parker, who has moved from the front-row to the back of the pack in retired lock Tonie Carroll's position, is enjoying his football.

"I'm happy with the way things are but there's still a long way to go," said Brisbane's only 80-minute forward.

"I don't mind doing it, somebody has to play 80 minutes for the interchange and my role in the side requires me to do that and I'm happy to do it."

Parker gave back-rower Ben Teo, back from injury, a big rap.

"He's a great bloke to have in your side, a very happy-go-lucky guy who's got a brutal right shoulder that I wouldn't like to run into," he said.

"He brings a real explosive power and I think he's bit untapped with what he can do.

"There's certainly a lot of potential there."
