Wilkinson to sign Toulon deal: report
England World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson could sign a two-year deal with big-spending French side Toulon, a French radio station reported on Sunday.
Wilkinson, who will be 30 on May 25, has been at Newcastle since 1997. He famously kicked the crucial drop goal which secured the 2003 World Cup for England.
Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal, a long time admirer of the injury-plagued flyhalf who has 70 caps and 1,032 Test points, is due to hold a news conference on Monday.
Toulon, who finished in ninth place in the French Top 14 this season after a campaign battling the fear of relegation, will have ex-French international Philippe Saint-Andre in place as sporting director next season.
They were expected to sign Leinster's Argentine flyhalf Felipe Contempomi, but he will be out for six months after suffering a serious knee injury in the European Cup semi-finals.
