Warriors re-sign three players
The New Zealand Warriors may have enjoyed a rest this weekend due to a bye but the NRL club's front office has been kept busy with the re-signing of three players.
Patrick Ah Van, Aaron Heremaia and Isaac John have all been re-signed by the Warriors until at least the end of the 2011 season.
Their signings follow the Auckland-based club's recent moves to secure internationals Steve Price, Jerome Ropati, Simon Mannering and Lance Hohaia for extended periods.
Utility back Ah Van, 21, who made his NRL debut in 2006, is six games short of his 50th first-grade appearance for the club.
Halfback or hooker Heremaia, 26, and versatile half John, 20, are viewed by club officials as future first-graders.
Ah Van has been signed to the end of the 2011 season while there are options on Heremaia and John for 2012.
"Patrick is already in his fourth season as a first-grader despite only just turning 21," coach Ivan Cleary said on Sunday.
"He offers us versatility with his ability to play in the centres, on the wing and at fullback. He has again shown his value in the last few weeks, coming into the side after we lost Brent Tate with his knee injury.
"And Aaron and Isaac certainly have the talent to make the step up in the near future."
