Brett White not giving up on Origin
Incumbent NSW prop Brett White hasn't given up hope of retaining his Blues position despite being omitted from last month's 40-man preliminary squad.
White has fallen off the representative radar after a foot injury then quadricep strain delayed his start to the NRL season with Melbourne.
The 27-year-old was drafted into the Country squad after Steve Simpson pulled out with injury and is hoping to make the most of his recall to the maroon and gold in Friday's clash with City at Orange.
White stormed from nowhere into the NSW side on the back of a brilliant debut for Country in 2007 and he's hoping another big performance can rekindle his representative season.
"I love playing in this jumper," said White.
"I really enjoy being here and look forward to playing on Friday night.
"A couple of weeks ago I was just hoping for a spot on the bench with the Storm.
"I've had a couple of games now and I'm feeling pretty good and I'm lucky to get the call up.
"The foot was right to go a few weeks ago but I had a small tear in my quad. It happened about five weeks ago but I was lucky enough to get back and get a couple of games under my belt at the right time."
White said he did not worry too much about being overlooked for the extended Blues squad and he isn't going to stress over his Origin future in the coming weeks.
"(Origin) was too far ahead of where I was. I was just worried about my injury and getting that right," said White.
"Now it is just week by week and trying to get better each week.
"I've got a bit of work to do but I'm enjoying being back playing footy."
