Matt White pleads innocence over crusher
Gold Coast prop Matthew White pleaded his innocence after being placed on report for an ugly crusher tackle on Penrith fullback Lachlan Coote at CUA Stadium on Monday night.
White was put on report by referee Ben Cummins for his 26th minute hit which forced Coote from the field with back spasms in Penrith's 34-20 win over the Titans.
The former Newcastle front rower collected Coote high before forcing him down to the ground with Coote's head trapped under White's body.
Coote said he believed the tackle was an accident with White left hoping that the match review committee saw it the same way.
"I think it looked worse than what it was, the tackle was pretty high and I actually just swung him around and his head got caught underneath me and they've thought it was a crusher I suppose," White said.
"I'm just going to have to wait and see what happens." Penrith coach Matthew Elliott said Coote was in some pain when he was taken to the sheds with the young fullback to undergo scans on Tuesday.
"He was okay when he came off the field but he went downhill from that point," Elliott said.
