Sharks suspend Seymour for two matches
Cronulla have stood down halfback Brett Seymour for two games and fined him $20,000 for an alcoholic bender last Sunday.
The Sharks board made the decision on Thursday with the NRL board set to discuss the situation via teleconference.
The NRL board could over-rule the Sharks' penalty and that of Roosters' hooker Jake Friend who was fined $10,000 for being charged with drink driving.
It is understood the Sharks received video footage of Seymour's behaviour and that helped convince the board to deal with his incident harshly.
"The decision came as a result of this most recent evidence, which formed part of the independent investigations conducted on behalf of the club by a representative of Barringtons Corporate Risk," a statement from the club read.
Seymour's suspension comes just over a week after the NRL banned Manly's Brett Stewart for four weeks for being intoxicated at a club function.
The halfback will miss Cronulla's clash with Newcastle on Monday and St George Illawarra next week.
