Sharks set to lose major sponsor: report
The Cronulla Sharks are reportedly facing the loss of a sponsorship deal worth almost $1 million as a result of charges against Greg Bird.
The Test star, stood down indefinitely from the NRL club, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on his girlfriend, Katie Milligan, and is due to appear in court again on October 8.
According to a News Ltd report, chartered accountants PKF are ready to withdraw their three year sleeve sponsorship and will meet Sharks coach Ricky Stuart and club chief executive Tony Zappia to discuss the situation on Thursday.
"We talk to our staff and clients about respect and integrity and we can't afford to have anything tarnish that," PKF chief executive David Ratcliffe told the News Ltd newspaper.
"Our brand and image are everything. Quality and respect - it's hard to keep talking to staff and clients about this if we don't stand by it.
"... This has created a real problem for us. This isn't particularly healthy."
