Dockers re-sign Head, O'Brien
After a spate of mid-season retirements Fremantle have decided to consolidate their AFL playing squad, re-signing emerging defenders Brock O'Brien and Josh Head for season 2009.
Head was de-listed by the club in 2003 after spending two years on the rookie list but some solid form in the WAFL saw the 25-year-old re-drafted by the Dockers in the 2008 pre-season draft.
The penetrating left-footer made his AFL debut in the Dockers' four-point loss to Essendon in round 14 and he added two more games to his tally before a knee injury cut his season short.
O'Brien made his AFL debut last year but has played just two games this season in an injury-interrupted campaign.
The 20-year-old is unlikely to play again in 2008 due to a wrist injury, which may require surgery.
Already this season Peter Bell, Shaun McManus, Heath Black and Matthew Carr have hung up their boots, while former Bomber Mark Johnson announced on Wednesday that season 2008 would be his last.
