Colbert rejects Eagles coaching post
Former Geelong and North Melbourne defender Leigh Colbert has rejected an approach from West Coast to join the club's revamped AFL coaching staff next season.
Colbert, who worked part-time for the club last year, informed the Eagles he has decided to concentrate on his fledgling career as a pilot and media commentator.
His decision is a blow for the Eagles as they look to add fresh minds to their coaching hierarchy following a disastrous season that has yielded just three wins to date.
Brisbane great Michael Voss has already joined on for the next two years while former Melbourne coach Neale Daniher is still on the Eagles' radar.
Daniher, who has been appointed on the four-man panel to help choose the development coach for the AFL's new Gold Coast franchise, met with coach John Worsfold last week where he was offered a role at the Eagles, believed to be that of football operations manager.
He is currently weighing up his options.
Eagles assistant coach Darren Harris was told on Monday his services would not be required beyond 2008, while fellow assistant Tony Micale is almost certain to join him in the coaching wilderness at season's end.
