Laidley dodges questions on Grant
North Melbourne coach Dean Laidley has refused to answer questions over the AFL club's suspension of veteran player Shannon Grant.
Laidley dodged every question put to him about Grant on Friday at Melbourne Airport, before the Kangaroos left for Adelaide ahead of Saturday night's game against Port Adelaide.
North this week suspended Grant, 31, after he misbehaved at a recent club and sponsor golf day.
The suspension could not have come at a worse time for the 1999 Norm Smith medallist given his side needs to beat Port to stay in touch with the top eight, and that Laidley gave him a strong showing of support last month given Grant's poor recent form.
Laidley was asked on Friday if he felt let down personally down by Grant, but refused to budge.
"We're not here to talk about that, we're here to talk about the game," he said.
Grant on Thursday night admitted he had let his club and coach down during an appearance on the Nine Network's The Footy Show.
"It's a bit embarrassing more than anything, I let the club down, my team-mates down and the coach as well, especially considering the way he came out and backed me in a couple of weeks ago," he said.
Grant's suspension leaves him on 293 games and in danger of not reaching the 300-game milestone this season if North miss out on reaching the finals, given he would need to play every game.
