Barrett cops two-game ban for horror hit
NSW and Cronulla five-eighth Trent Barrett has accepted a two-match ban for his Origin II high tackle which left Queensland centre Greg Inglis with a fractured jaw.
Barrett decided against risking a three-match ban by fighting the charge at the judiciary after he was slapped with a grade-one reckless high tackle charge following Wednesday night's 24-14 series-clinching win to the Maroons at ANZ Stadium.
Inglis failed to return to the field after the 22nd minute incident which left him concussed on top of the injury to his jaw.
Barrett's suspension comes at a bad time for the Sharks who had just started to turn their season around with wins in their last four matches.
He will, however, be available for selection for the Blues in Origin III on July 15.
Reece Williams, who filled for Barrett in the No.6 jumper while the Sharks skipper was away on Origin duty, is again expected to slide over to five-eighth for Saturday's NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters.
