Thompson stars as Crows trump Tigers
Scott Thompson has starred for Adelaide with a six-goal haul as the Crows stormed to a 50-point come-from-behind AFL victory over Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.
The Crows won 22.14 (146) to 14.12 (96) and ran away with the game in the second half by kicking 15 goals to five.
Richmond held a 14-point lead at half time but they squandered the advantage under mounting pressure from Adelaide who didn't hit form until the third term.
Thompson led up forward and was Adelaide's best through the middle while Luke Jericho gave a solid performance in the absence of forward Brett Burton, kicking five majors.
The Crows scored the first two goals of the game but it was Richmond who dictated terms for the rest of the first half.
But after the break the momentum of the game changed.
The Crows found form in the third, booting eight goals to strip Richmond of the lead with four of those majors from Jericho who was given plenty of room to move by the Richmond backline.
Adelaide took the lead at the 19-minute mark when Brent Reilly found Jericho all on his own up forward and he kicked an easy goal.
Nathan Brown, who has spent much of his Richmond career as a small forward, started off in the middle and floated through half-back to create plenty of drive.
Brett Deledio's pace from the midfield was a big plus for Richmond as was Trent Cotchin's hard work and decision making in close.
Robert Shirley ran with the dangerous Nathan Foley and kept him from having any influence on the game.
