Darcy Daniher to make debut for Bombers
An impressive family tradition will continue at Essendon when 18-year-old Darcy Daniher makes his AFL debut for the club against Port Adelaide on Sunday.
Daniher, who kicked four goals for VFL club Bendigo Bombers last weekend, is the son of former Essendon champion Anthony Daniher.
His uncles Terry, Neale and Chris also played for the club and between them, the four Daniher brothers boasted a combined total of 752 AFL matches.
Darcy Daniher's chance comes after recovering from pre-season shoulder surgery and Essendon team manager David Calthorpe said it was well earned.
"Darcy has been one of our best performed key position players for Bendigo and he deserves this opportunity to show his talent at senior level," Calthorpe told the club's website.
"He obviously comes from a great football family and he has certain traits that both his father and uncles exhibited as players for the club.
"Like them, he is a hard competitor - especially for someone so young."
