Coleman sacking our fault: Fletcher
South Sydney captain Bryan Fletcher concedes the players have to take some responsibility for the Rabbitohs' dismal start to the year, which led to the sacking of coach Craig Coleman.
Fletcher fronted a press conference to promote the club's National Rugby League premiership opener against the Bulldogs in two weeks time and admitted the players had let themselves down in their three trial matches.
Coleman was axed on Monday, with the club citing the team's pre-season form - it conceded 130 points in its three losses - as a major reason.
"We have not been acceptable," Fletcher said. "We have let the fans down, the supporters, most importantly we have probably let ourselves down.
"We trained hard, we have no excuses."
Fletcher also revealed the players held a meeting this morning where, despite their disappointment at Coleman's removal, they decided to focus on their clash with the premiership favourites on March 15.
"It was disappointing for everyone involved," Fletcher said.
"We spent five months with Tugga (Coleman) and got used to his style of play but the board made a decision and we have to move on.
"It's no use thinking abut what happened, we have to move forward. We just spoke about that this morning and that's what we're going to do.
"I think what's happened over the last two days we have to just get over it and let it go."
