Federer crushes Blake to win Masters Cup
World number one Roger Federer underlined his absolute dominance of men's tennis when he routed American James Blake 6-0 6-3 6-4 on Sunday to win the Masters Cup for the third time in four years.
The Swiss was beaten by David Nalbandian in last year's five-set final but there was to be no upset this time as he mercilessly took apart the man who will end the year as the fourth best player in the world.
It was Federer's 12th title of the season.
Blake did not lack in effort and had 11 break points but Federer glided around the court to save all but one of them and clinched the year-ending championship when his opponent netted a service return after just one hour 37 minutes.
Federer was unbeaten in the tournament so added $US1.52 million ($A1.99 million) to his year's haul to become the first player to earn more than $US8 million ($A10.45 million) in a season with a total of $US8,343,885. ($A10.9 million).
