Bayley aims to bounce back
Ryan Bayley is adamant he will make amends for missing the gold in the keirin at the Sydney UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
Bayley was disappointed at being unable to repeat his feat at Athens 2004 of beating arch-rival and World Champion Theo Bos in the keirin at the Dunc Gray Velodrome.
But the Olympic champion sprinter, who will back up against Bos in the men's sprint, has his mind focused only on gold in the event.
"I'm not going to make any mistakes like I did so hopefully everything goes a lot better," he said.
Bayley said he was in good condition for the World Cup despite an interrupted preparation but said the result showed he "still had a lot more work to do".
Australia's men's team pursuit team will also take to the track with Olympic and World Champions Stephen Wooldridge, Mark Jamieson and Peter Dawson looking to add to their already-strong international records.
Other finals to be contested at the session include the women's individual pursuit, women's team sprint and men's point race.
