Akermanis in second meeting with Bombers
Essendon is firming as the frontrunner to attract Jason Akermanis, after the disgruntled Brisbane star met with Bombers officials on Wednesday.
Akermanis flew to Melbourne for a meeting with Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy and recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro, the Seven Network reported.
It was the second meeting Akermanis has held with Essendon officials.
The 2001 Brownlow medallist said he expected to make a decision on his future club "in the next few weeks".
Sheedy said last week Essendon was interested in Akermanis, provided it did not have to give up too much in a trade for the 29-year-old.
"If it costs us too much, we'd probably have to handball it," he said.
