England have moved into second place in the world Test rankings behind Australia after taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead over Pakistan in their four-Test series.
A statement from the International Cricket Council confirmed that England's 167-run win over Pakistan in the third Test at Headingley in Leeds had put them ahead of the tourists.
"The forthcoming Ashes series between Australia and England will be a battle between the top two sides in the test championship table," the statement said.
