Caucau first outed at RWC 2003
Repentant Fiji winger Rupeni Caucaunibuca got the punishment many believe he deserved when he was suspended for two Rugby World Cup games on Monday night.
But he still has a chance to make an impact on the tournament.
Fiji manager Joe Browne, speaking on behalf of Caucaunibuca, said RWC judicial officer Terry Willis handed down a fair suspension to the 23-year-old after he was cited for punching France flanker Olivier Magne.
"We were guilty of the citing, I expected the penalty. We are grateful he's able to play in our last game," Browne said.
Caucau, as the flying winger is known, will miss Fiji's matches against United States on October 15 and Japan on October 23.
He will be back in time to take on Scotland in Sydney on November 1 - a match which could determine the quarter-finalists out of Pool B.
Fiji, whipped 61-18 by France, could advance to the quarter-finals if it beats Scotland, which was less than impressive against Japan in Townsville on Saturday.
Caucaunibuca said he was ashamed of his actions.
"I wish the judiciary and everybody involved with the World Cup to know how sorry I am for what occurred on the field in the game against France last Saturday," Caucaunibuca said in a statement read out by Browne.
"I reacted wrongly and should not have struck the French player.
