Inflated welcome set for Queen's baton
A giant floating running track will herald the arrival of the Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton at the opening ceremony in Melbourne next month.
The 1km track will stretch from the Princes Bridge to the Swan Street bridge.
Specially selected runners will carry the baton along the track into the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, according to the Herald Sun newspaper.
The baton will start the day in Melbourne's northern suburbs before making its way to Williamstown and then the Docklands.
The newspaper said the baton would emerge at 7.30pm and travel by boat to the start of the floating track at Princes Bridge.
It was expected to arrive at the MCG mid-way through the opening ceremony.
