Stuart perfect in final analysis
Ricky Stuart is the new finals super coach, boasting an impeccable eight-from-eight record in play-offs since swapping his boots for the clipboard in 2001.
No wonder Stuart defied the norm and accepted his Sydney Roosters as favourites for Saturday night's National Rugby League blockbuster against the Bulldogs.
Despite having beaten the Roosters in their past four meetings, including twice this season, Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes has labelled his team "overwhelming underdogs" for the do-or-die encounter at Aussie Stadium.
Stuart, though, couldn't care either way, saying "the week off has been an advantage" for the reigning premiers.
"It's been good. They've had a little bit of time to get over a few bumps and bruises.
"I don't mind if we're the favourites. I don't see it as any particular problem to me - if we're favourites or underdogs.
"Once the boys take the field at 7.30 on Saturday night, I don't think it's a major drama to anybody.
"The only drama it is to the punters."
Stuart had every reason to feel confident.
Having achieved everything the game has to offer as a player, the former Test halfback has already built a remarkable record as a coach.
