Roos half-back decision due this weekend
The three contenders for the vacant Kangaroos half-back job expect to be told their fate by coach Wayne Bennett this weekend.
The Kangaroos flew into London on Friday morning, for their upcoming Tri-Nations Tests against Great Britain.
The absence of an injured Andrew Johns has left Wests Tigers captain Scott Prince, Penrith skipper Craig Gower and St George-Illawarra five-eighth Trent Barrett fighting for the half-back role.
Speaking on arrival, Barrett said he expected Bennett to make his decision in the next 48 hours.
"I'm not sure, but I'd certainly love to play half-back though, I'd just love to be given the chance," Barrett said.
"Whichever way Wayne goes will be the right way I guess, but I hope I'm in there somewhere.
"I'll talk to him, or he'll talk to us, in the next couple of days and decide which way to go."
A more unlikely scenario would see captain Darren Lockyer revert to full-back, allowing Barrett to play at five-eighth with either Prince or Gower alongside in the halves.
"I'd love for that to happen, but whether it does or not, it's probably unlikely at this stage," Barrett said.
"All I can do is have a good attitude, train hard and see what happens."
