Broncos bring in new coaching team
Former Canberra halfback Ivan Henjak and State of Origin players Peter Ryan and Paul Green have scored positions on Brisbane's revamped 2006 coaching roster.
Three days after running the broom through Wayne Bennett's support staff of assistant coach Kevin Walters, performance director Gary Belcher and Colt's coach and forward advisor Glenn Lazarus, the five-time premiers named four new men on Monday.
Henjack, who has coached Brisbane's reserve grade side along with Queensland Cup feeder club Toowoomba, replaces Waters as Bennett's assistant.
He's been working as the recruitment manager for the past 18 months.
A brutal hitter during his 168-game career for Brisbane, Ryan will be the club's specialist defensive coach.
Green, a creative halfback who played for Cronulla, Parramatta, Sydney Roosters, Brisbane and North Queensland, has been employed as kicking and catching coach.
Burleigh Bears Queensland Cup assistant coach Mark Gee replaces Toowoomba Clydesdale's coach John Dixon who's heading to the UK to continue his coaching career.
Gee, who played 75 games for former Gold Coast Giants/Seagulls, has coached in the Gold Coast district for two decades.
The only position not filled on Monday was Belcher's role as strength and fitness coach, tipped to go to former Cowboys assistant coach Kelly Egan.
Brisbane also found a spot on its new roster for another of its former favourites, hardman prop Andrew Gee, its new football/team manager.
