Succumbing Tigers a worry for Brown
St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown fears the Wests Tigers policy of succumbing easily in tackles could see his side penalised out of Saturday night's NRL preliminary final.
Brown called on referee Tim Mander to grant his defenders some leniency in the ruck if the Tigers continued their policy of falling into tackles in a bid to get quick play-the-balls.
The Tigers have been brilliant throughout the finals series at getting a roll-on through quick play-the-balls, with hooker Robbie Farah making plenty of yards out of dummy half.
The Dragons indicated earlier this week that they would use wrestling tactics in a bid to turn the Tigers players onto their backs to slow down their momentum.
"That's probably them not being quite as big, there's wrestling on the ground," Brown said.
"They've got lots of people that play the ball really quick too.
"Like every side they've got some blokes that do it ... they've definitely got their share.
"We've just got to work hard and within the rules do the right thing, what you're allowed to do to stop those people.
"As long as the ruck's reffed the same for both sides you can never ever complain."
While not admitting that his side succumbed in tackles, Tigers coach Tim Sheens said defenders should be allowed to slow down the play if they dominated the tackle.
