Inglis added to Junior Kangaroos squad
Melbourne rookie sensation Greg Inglis has been named in the Junior Kangaroos rugby league train-on squad to play matches against Papua New Guinea and New Zealand A next month.
Inglis was a revelation in his first year in the NRL, playing 13 matches for the Storm and scoring seven tries.
The 18-year-old was also named the player of the year in the Queensland Cup, despite playing only 12 games for the Storm's feeder club Brisbane Norths.
Playing most of his games off the bench, Inglis also deputised at fullback when Billy Slater was unavailable, but has been slated for a spot in centres next year with Steve Bell moving on to Manly.
Inglis will have a battle on his hands to secure the No.1 jumper in the Junior Kangaroos line-up, with Brisbane ace Karmichael Hunt also in the squad.
The Junior Kangaroos will play PNG in Darwin on October 8 and against The New Zealand A side at Telstra Stadium on October 15 as a curtain-raiser to the Tri-Nations encounter between Australia and the Kiwis.
Train on squad to date:
Todd Carney (Canberra), Beau Champion, Yileen Gordon (both South Sydney), Steve Michaels (Toowoomba Clydesdales), Chris Trembath (Manly), Ryan Shortland, Scott Anderson, Col Wilkie, Brenton Stonier (all Brisbane Norths), Tyrone Haynes (Central Queensland Comets), Karmichael Hunt, Leon Bott (both Brisbane), Scott Bolton (North Queensland), Daniel Conn (Bulldogs) James McManus, Jarrod Mullen (both Newcastle).
