ARL names 34-man Kangaroos train-on squad
The Australian Rugby League has announced a 34-man Kangaroos train-on squad with Gold Coast veteran Preston Campbell the biggest surprise on the list.
The squad, a combination of those players set for the upcoming Prime Minister's XIII game against Papua New Guinea and others slated for the Kangaroos squad, will assemble in Sydney on September 15 to undergo training and medicals.
Further eligible players will be added to the squad when their respective teams are eliminatedfrom the NRL finals.
Australia's squad for the one-off Test against New Zealand in Newcastle on October 16 and the Four Nations tournament, which starts on October 28, will be announced on October 3.
The PM's XIII will play the Kumuls in Lae, Papua New Guinea on September 25, with the team to be selected from the train-on squad in the week before the match.
