Saints receive all kinds of AFL news
St Kilda's football department is wondering whether to laugh or cry as the repercussions continue from the crucial AFL win over the Western Bulldogs.
Nick Riewoldt escaped surgery but could be out for two months, Fraser Gehrig escaped penalty from the match review panel, Robert Harvey is out for about month with yet another hamstring injury and Aaron Hamill had yet more scans on his recurring calf muscle injury.
While the Saints squared their season at seven wins and seven losses with Sunday's brave effort it came at a cost for the injury-ravaged club.
Still, captain Riewoldt was cheerful after x-rays showed the second fracture this season in his right shoulder was only minor.
"I didn't cry, for a start, I handled it probably a little bit better, put it into perspective," Riewoldt joked.
"I'm just trying to get out there as quickly as possible and really get behind my team-mates now because it's a very important part of the year.
Riewoldt famously cried on the boundary line after suffering his original injury in round one.
He needed a plate surgically inserted after that fracture and missed five weeks.
Despite not needing another operation, Riewoldt is rated a six- to eight-week absentee.
That means he might not return until the finals - provided the Saints finish in the top eight.
