Tigers tame Lions in Gabba thriller
Richmond overturned its interstate hoodoo at the Gabba on Saturday night with a tense four-point AFL win over a wobbly Brisbane.
Nathan Brown went from villain to hero for the Tigers by snapping the final two goals of the match in the 12.15 (87) to 12.11 (83) victory.
Trailing by two points with three minutes left, Brown punished an unthinkable error by Lions skipper Michael Voss.
Voss had produced his best game of the season until the costly mistake when he hand-balled back to no-one in his defensive 50m arc while under pressure.
Brown's quick pounce and over-the-shoulder snap sent the Tigers to their first win at the Gabba since 2000 and sent them to outright second with a 7-2 record.
The loss leaves the triple premiers with plenty of questions to answer and a 3-6 record.
The man who sunk Collingwood with a stunning final quarter performance last week, Brown had missed four set shots in the third term.
In a tight contest where the Lions had led from time-on in the first quarter but never extended the advantage past 16 points, it appeared his misses would come back to haunt the visitors.
But he started to make up for his inaccuracy by edging the Tigers to within two points with the third of his four goals at the 14th minute mark of the last term.
The acute snap came just after Anthony McGrath crumbed well in the goal square to kick his fifth goal.
