Wiki still available for NZ despite ban
Ruben Wiki may be out of the New Zealand Warriors next four NRL matches, but the Kiwis captain will be available for the Anzac international on April 22.
The 43-Test veteran was suspended for four matches on Tuesday after pleading guilty to a high shot on Broncos forward David Stagg in the Warriors' 24-12 win on Saturday night.
Had he fought the charge, then lost, he would have been automatically suspended for seven weeks.
Wiki's tackle on Stagg was ruled a grade three by the NRL judiciary.
A bad record for judiciary appearances means Wiki carries demerit points for previous offences, and the 66 points he has as a carry-over from this latest "conviction" means he will miss at least one week for any future offences in the next 12 months.
If Wiki had fought the charge and lost he'd have missed the Test against Australia at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, for which he will remain a likely candidate.
Wiki's expulsion keeps him out of Sunday's home game against the improved Cowboys and the following weekend against Souths at Ericsson Stadium, the Wests Tigers home game which is in Christchurch and the match against Newcastle in the week before the Test.
