Unchanged Warriors to take on Knights
The New Zealand Warriors will predictably field an unchanged line-up as they seek a third successive NRL win against Newcastle at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland on Saturday night.
Head coach Ivan Cleary has again been able to name an identical combination for the 20th round clash as the sixth-placed Warriors attempt to consolidate a position inside the top eight.
Jerome Ropati's early guilty plea for a grade one dangerous throw on West Tigers forward Taniela Tuiaki last weekend means the Kiwis international will be able to continue his stint alongside Simon Mannering.
Cleary has a full squad of 25 to chose from - a luxury at this time of the season.
"Everyone's pushing for spots but the players in the NRL side have been doing a really good job for us the last few weeks," Cleary said.
Since losing six in a row, the Warriors have won five of their last six matches.
They now have a record of nine wins and nine losses heading into the last six rounds of the regular season.
Newcastle have won only one of their last five games but Cleary rates them as a dangerous proposition.
"It's the same with every side in this competition. They all have the ability to beat any other side on any give day and we expect the Knights to be a real challenge," he said.
The Knights contributed to the Warriors' earlier run of defeats when they clawed back from a big deficit to triumph 24-18 at EnergyAustralia Stadium in round nine.
NZ Warriors: Wade McKinnon, Michael Crockett, Jerome Ropati, Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei, Michael Witt, Grant Rovelli, Sam Rapira, George Gatis, Steve Price (captain), Ruben Wiki, Logan Swann, Micheal Luck. Interchange: Wairangi Koopu, Evarn Tuimavave, Epalahame Lauaki, Nathan Fien.
