Webb impresses for Cowboys
Prop Carl Webb has made an impressive debut for North Queensland in the Cowboys' 44-0 rugby league trial romp over Central Queensland Comets at Rockhampton's Browne Park.
Ex-Brisbane enforcer Webb donned Cowboys colours for the first time along with ex-Rabbitoh Justin Smith and Wests Tigers recruit, five-eighth Keiren Kerr.
Webb crossed once in the nine-try-to-nil rout in front of more than 4,000 with winger Rod Jensen crossing for a hat-trick and Queensland Origin centre Josh Hannay bagging a double.
But the impressive win by a half-strength Cowboys outfit was soured by winger Neil Sweeney suffering a suspected broken bone in his foot early in the trial played in quarters.
Cowboys coach Graham Murray - recently reappointed for his fifth term as NSW City mentor - will learn the full extent of the injury on Sunday.
The Cowboys' next trial will be against Sharks at Mackay next Saturday night before tackling Melbourne Storm at Cairns the following week.
