Pakistan bats on form finding mission
Pakistan's key batsmen will play in Wednesday's opening tour match against the West Australian Second XI, with coach Bob Woolmer desperate for them to find form before next month's first Test against Australia.
Pakistan's 17-man touring squad arrived in Perth on Monday, well in advance of the opening match of the three-Test series at the WACA starting December 16.
The tourists have organised three warm-up matches in an attempt to adapt quickly to Australian conditions as they aim for a first ever series win in this country.
After the three-day clash against the WA Second XI, they face a one-dayer against the Chairman's XI at Lilac Hill and a four-day match with the Warriors.
Pacemen Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami will spearhead the visitor's attack, but Woolmer wants his main run-scorers - starting with captain Inzamam-ul-Haq - to waste little time finding form on Australian pitches.
"I think we'll try to get most of our batsmen going in both games, the three and the four-day game," Woolmer said.
"The bowlers I think we'll just ease into the tour a little bit, the one-day game and maybe the four-day game after that.
"That's the idea."
Adam Voges, who smashed the fastest century in Australian domestic one-day history for WA against NSW in the ING Cup last month, will captain the seconds.
Voges clubbed 100 runs from just 62 balls in a man of the match performance in the Warriors' three-run win at North Sydney Oval.
