Hoy in Athens chasing Olympic history
Australian equestrian champion Andrew Hoy arrives in Athens chasing a piece of Olympic history - a fourth consecutive gold medal at his sixth Olympics.
Hoy was a member of the eventing team that won gold in Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney 2000.
He also competed in Los Angeles in 1984, Seoul in 1988 and was selected for Moscow in 1980 but did not compete due to the partial boycott.
He has an individual silver medal from Sydney and his worst finish was in the team event in Seoul when Australian was 15th and he finished fifth in the individual eventing.
Hoy has been mentioned as a possible flag bearer for the Australian team at the Athens Games' opening ceremony.
He is married to German rider Bettina Hoy who will be one of opponents in the team eventing.
Arriving soon after is former Wimbledon runner-up Mark Philippoussis, whose best performances have come when playing for his country in the Davis Cup.
The US open finalist has won two Davis Cups and a Hopman Cup while competing in the green and gold, although he has not had as much success at two previous Olympics.
Philippoussis' girl friend actress and singer Delta Goodrem will also get involved with the Olympic team by performing three songs at the team's official welcoming dinner on Wednesday.
And his Davis Cup teammate Wayne Arthurs, who was due to play doubles with 1996 gold medallist Todd Woodbridge, has been called up to the singles competition to replace Martin Verkerk after the Dutchman was injured.
