Hall to carry Paralympic torch
Australia's wheelchair tennis champion David Hall will carry the Paralympic torch through the streets of Athens.
The experience will bring back fond memories for Hall, who was also the first person to carry the flame in the Sydney Paralympic torch relay.
Hall has been wheelchair tennis's No.1 in men's singles five times in the past 11 years and is chasing his second Paralympic gold medal.
The Paralympic flame will have toured Greece for eight days when it arrives at the opening ceremony in the Olympic stadium on Friday.
Hall will carry it in suburban Athens, a spokesman for the Australian team said.
Meanwhile, the Australian team is awaiting two key decisions from the International Paralympic Committee.
Australia has asked the IPC to grant an extra Games berth to sprint cycling world champion Kieran Modra, arguing special circumstances.
The IPC has not indicated when it will make a decision, an Australian official said.
Australia is also appealing a decision by Games officials to re-classify the disability of the youngest member of the Australian team, Ryley Batt.
Officials changed the double amputee from a 2.5 point rating to a 3.5 point player, deciding he had more movement than previously thought.
