Dajka's appeal to be heard
Banished Olympic cyclist Jobie Dajka's appeal will be heard after a fax from his legal team was located at the Australian Olympic Committee's (AOC) office in Sydney, the AOC has announced.
Earlier on Monday, a spokesman for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Sydney said Dajka had failed to meet a deadline for lodging his appeal papers.
Australian team Chef de Mission John Coates punted Dajka from the Olympic team for twice lying about whether he had self-injected at an Australian Institute of Sport facility in Adelaide late last year.
On Monday night the AOC released this statement: "Please be advised a fax from Jobie Dajka's legal team has been located in the AOC office in St Leonards in Sydney regarding their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport"
"The appeal will now proceed but no time or place has been decided as yet."
