Dajka fails in Olympic axing appeal
Cyclist Jobie Dajka has failed in his appeal to be reinstated to the Australian Olympic team.
Dajka and his legal representative Bernie Gross QC emerged from the five and a quarter hour hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport saying they would not be given the reason for a couple of days.
Dajka was axed from the team 10 days ago after admitting he lied over to an inquiry over drug use at the AIS in Adelaide.
He was replaced by Ben Kersten who is currently in camp with the cycling team in Germany.
"I will just have a month off and start again, it's what I live for, I've done nothing wrong," Dajka, 22, told reporters.
Asked if he was given a fair hearing, he replied "I probably shouldn't comment on that."
The South Australian said the decision probably wouldn't hit home for a couple of days and he was in a state of disbelief.
"I'm probably the first sportsman in history to be ejected from an Olympics for taking a vitamin, it's absolutely a joke."
Gross said he wouldn't comment on whether there was any further legal avenue he could pursue until he received the reason for the decision handed down by a three-man panel headed by former Federal Attorney-General Bob Ellicott, QC.
He confirmed Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates was among those to give evidence.
