Grant and Gaspar over knee injuries
Chris Grant and Darren Gaspar have showed their recoveries from knee reconstructions were on track when they played in AFL intra-club games.
Grant's Western Bulldogs and Gaspar's Richmond were among seven Melbourne-based teams that had internal trials.
Collingwood, Hawthorn, the Kangaroos, Melbourne and St Kilda also had competitive hit-outs ahead of next week's first Wizard Cup round.
Grant's season ended last year in round one, while Gaspar injured his knee in round 11.
"He's done really well, everything has gone right and he's on schedule to return in round one," Tigers football manager Greg Hutchison said of Gaspar.
Richmond captain Wayne Campbell, who only played nine games last year because of leg injuries, also played three quarters.
Key forward Matthew Richardson was in strong form with five goals.
Grant also played a half in the Bulldogs' hit-out.
"We didn't have high expectations of Grant in terms of the way he played today," said Bulldogs coach Peter Rohde.
"We were obviously just very keen to get him through the morning. It was nice to see him out there running around."
