Kasprowicz's injury curse continues
Michael Kasprowicz's frustrating injury run has continued with the former Australian quick ruled out of this week's double-header against Western Australia at the WACA.
The veteran has been replaced by Chris Swan for the Pura Cup match starting on Friday after twinging his groin on the final day of the weekend's tour-match against Sri Lanka in Brisbane.
Kasprowicz will also miss Wednesday's one-dayer against the Warriors with Scott Brant called into the Bulls Ford Ranger Cup squad.
Scans on Tuesday revealed the extent of the paceman's injury which denies him a first Pura Cup game in two seasons.
Last year Kasprowicz bowled only eight legal deliveries, in a one-dayer, after recurring back and groin problems kept him on the sidelines.
His return to the Bulls side in the four-wicket victory against the tourists was his first first-class match since Australia's three-Test whitewash of South Africa in March 2006.
Kasprowicz, who also missed the start of this season with a calf strain, looked in fine fettle in the three-day game by taking 2-28 and 3-29 against the Sri Lankans.
"It's frustrating I can't deny that," said the 35-year-old.
"The positive for me is that it is in a completely different spot to the injury I had last year that kept me out for most of the year and I have been told it is definitely minor in nature.
"But it's very disappointing nonetheless, especially after feeling so good at the bowling crease against Sri Lanka."
Gold Coaster Swan, 29, who produced a career high grade score of 151 not out on the weekend, will vie with youngster Grant Sullivan to play in his third Pura Cup match.
