Brownlow fashion steals the show
Who said AFL grand final week in Melbourne is all about football?
On the Brownlow Medals red carpet in Melbourne, fashion rather than footy prowess ruled.
The footy fashionistas were in two distinct camps - those with revealing backlines and those favouring a more conservative approach.
Bree Hatley, partner of Essendon champ Adam McPhee, led the less-is-more camp with a sheer, silky backless black gown that dipped to the top of her buttocks and split to the top of her thighs.
Kate O'Connor, with Richmond's Nathan Foley, wore a black halter-necked dress with white detailing and a plunging back covered only by strings of pearls.
Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown's partner, Kylie Adams, wore a sparkling champagne frock, also with a low-cut back and a floor-dusting skirt.
While former West Coast captain Chris Judd's longtime partner Rebecca Twigley again threatened to steal the show with her demure look - a full-length, gunmetal grey Celestial Tenille gown with purple jewels and a ruffled train flowing behind.
Lauren Phillips, the partner of Geelong Brownlow favourite Gary Ablett Jr, favoured a lighter shade of grey with a delicately embroidered bodice on her flowing, floor-length dress.
Their entry to the sport's premier awards event was interrupted by actor Vince Colosimo, who bailed up Ablett on the red carpet for an autograph.
Magpie legend Nathan Buckley's wife Tania Buckley also followed the dark and demure trend, opting for sheer, full-length and grey.
Jess Johnson, partnered by Hawthorn skipper Campbell Brown, chose a spaghetti-strapped white, floor-length gown.
