Sick Allenby leads Masters by two
Robert Allenby isn't sure whether he wants to recover too quickly from whatever it is that has ailed him during the first two rounds of the Australian Masters at Huntingdale.
His opponents are equally uncertain.
Allenby fired a second successive five-under par round of 67, to be two shots clear of veteran Queenslander Peter Senior with a further two shots to Brad Lamb of Victoria and Western Australia's Nick O'Hern.
For the second day in a row Allenby was in two minds about playing golf as he stood on the first tee.
And for the second day in a row, he played a stunning round.
"The only thing I know for sure is that I'm sick," Allenby said.
"By the 13th hole I was pretty much worn out."
Fortunately for Allenby, he had by then laid the foundation for a winning round.
After beginning with two bogeys and two birdies, Allenby put together a four-hole stretch that may well prove vital to his chances come Sunday afternoon.
An eagle at the par-five seventh and birdies at eight, nine and 10 got the Victorian to 10 under.
