Brett Ratten confident of new Blues deal
Carlton coach Brett Ratten says he's "extremely confident" of earning a contract extension at the Blues after helping his AFL side achieve significant improvement this year.
Ratten was under pressure to achieve in 2011 after failing to notch a finals victory in his previous three seasons in charge.
Carlton's premiership hopes were ended on Saturday night in a heartbreaking three-point semi-final loss to West Coast at Patersons Stadium.
But after guiding his side to fifth spot on the ladder and an elimination final victory over Essendon, Ratten is confident a contract extension will be a mere formality.
"Yeah extremely confident," Ratten replied when asked whether he was confident of remaining at the club.
"We (the club and I) have been speaking a little bit through the season.
"Everyone (the public and media) said it was about winning a final (to get an extension, but) it wasn't.
"It was about improving our list and our personnel, and I think we've done that."
