Bickley won't be rushed on Crows AFL job
Adelaide's caretaker Mark Bickley won't be rushed, despite saying his AFL club wants to appoint a new coach "reasonably quickly".
Bickley will decide whether to apply for the job within days of Adelaide's season-ending fixture against West Coast on Saturday.
The Crows' interim coach maintains he hasn't thought much about the permanent role amid growing speculation he wants the gig.
"I haven't really allowed myself to think about what is going tohappen after the game this week," Bickley told reporters on Friday.
Bickley, with three wins from five games as interim coach, said he would make his decision whether to apply "probably a couple of days after the game".
"It comes down to, you want to believe that you can make a really strong and positive impact on the club and be able to take it to where it wants to go," Bickley said.
"Those values have to align and you have to have the vision of where you see the club going.
"(It's not like) when the club asked me whether I would do the interim role and you just jack your hand straight up and say 'yeah I'm going to do it'.
"You need to give it a lot of thought and you need to go into all the things that need to be ticked off in terms of criteria to make sure you're a suitable applicant."
Bickley believed Adelaide wanted to settle soon on a new coach, despite contenders including West Coast assistant Scott Burns and Collingwood assistant Mark Neeld being involved in finals.
"The club, I would think, is looking to make a decision reasonably quickly ... to give the person that is going to come in an opportunity to make some of those important decisions," he said, referring to the future of players such as veteran Michael Doughty.
