Bring on Geelong: Bickley
Adelaide's caretaker coach Mark Bickley has adopted a 'bring it on' attitude about hosting AFL bullies Geelong at AAMI Stadium next Sunday.
The clash shapes as a moment of truth for Bickley who has two wins from as many matches in his short time in charge of Adelaide after taking over from Neil Craig.
In his first weekend as caretaker, the Crows defeated bottom-side Port Adelaide and they came from four goals down to over-run Brisbane at the Gabba on Sunday to keep his unbeaten record intact.
With the Cats coming off a 185-point win over Melbourne and a 150-point win over Gold Coast, the former Crows skipper knows this Sunday will test the resolve of his players.
"It's a fantastic thing for our footy club," Bickley said.
"We've played two teams, in terms of ladder positions, are below us and some people might expect we should beat those teams anyway.
"To come against a legitimate heavyweight of the AFL and not just in average form, but white-hot form, I could not think of anything better for this side to test themselves against.
"I've been really fortunate so far to put a challenge to them (the players) and they've been able to respond.
"This powerhouse side is coming to us - let's have a go."
He said they will not alter their style against the Cats and he will encourage his side to take risks and not be too concerned about the cost of turnovers.
Ineffective disposals were a big problem for the Lions; of their 191 kicks, 61 were either 'clangers' or ineffective according to the official stats.
"In terms of the way we go about our business, our measurements won't change," Bickley said.
"There are some real areas we need to improve on like execution and composure at times and next week is no different."
