Waerea-Hargreaves charged by NRL committee
Fiery Sydney Roosters forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is likely to miss Friday night's NRL clash with Parramatta after being charged over a high tackle.
Waerea-Hargreaves has received a grade three careless high tackle charge for his ugly contact with Cronulla captain Paul Gallen during Saturday night's 36-25 win to the Roosters.
The tackle incensed Gallen, who questioned whether the Kiwi enforcer should have been sent from the field at the Sydney Football Stadium for the incident which occurred in the 71st minute.
Waerea-Hargreaves will miss a week with an early guilty plea and also a single match if he unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the NRL judiciary.
The Roosters prop is the only player to be charged by the match review committee from the completed round-24 matches.
Finals aspirants South Sydney and second-placed Manly are breathing sighs of relief after Dave Taylor (alleged headbutt) and Steve Matai (alleged trip) escaped charges.
