Soward cleared of back injury
St George Illawarra are confident five-eighth Jamie Soward won't miss any football after he left the field suffering a back spasm during Friday night's NRL loss to the Wests Tigers.
Soward hobbled from the Sydney Football Stadium in the 66th minute, moments after the Tigers had taken advantage of his obvious discomfort with a Benji Marshall try in the 16-14 defeat.
The Dragons say the move was precautionary and they expect the NSW State of Origin playmaker back for next weekend's grand final rematch with the Sydney Roosters in Wollongong.
"Jamie suffered a back spasm during the second half of play so we decided to take him off the field," Dragons performance director Jeremy Hickmans told the club's website.
"We don't expect his back to be too bad by the looks of things as it seems he has simply jarred it."
Losing Soward would be the last thing the premiers need after a third straight loss kept them outside the top four.
Dragons officials said backrower Beau Scott had been cleared after he appeared to have suffered a hamstring problem.
