Stynes to undergo further cancer surgery
Melbourne AFL president Jim Stynes is set to undergo further cancer surgery next week.
The Demons said Stynes was currently in hospital, having received treatment for his cancer over the past two days.
"Jim has surgery scheduled to remove a tumour in his stomach next Wednesday," Melbourne said in a statement.
"Doctors expect Jim to have a two to three-week recovery period following the operation.
"Jim would like to thank everyone for all the positive messages and well wishes he has received this week."
Stynes has endured a difficult week, having to sack coach Dean Bailey last weekend and overseeing a week of turmoil at the Demons following their 186-point loss to Geelong.
